How To Grow Sprouts

All you need is a few basic items. First, it is best to purchase some good quality organic seeds that have been tested for purity and high germination rate. To grow your seeds you will need a sprouting jar and lid, a glass bowl and filtered water. First, soak seeds from four to six hours. Then rinse and drain water from jar and place at an angle in glass bowl so that it will keep draining the excess liquid. Just rinse and repeat two times a day for anywhere between three and five days depending upon the type of sprout. Bean and lentil sprouts typically take about three days until their tails are about half to one inch long and vegetable sprouts should grow about two inches and have cotyledons, the little leaf, started on the end of their sprout and are ready within five to seven days.

The best way to store sprouts is in Tupperware in the refrigerator lined with a paper towel on the bottom and one draped on top to absorb moisture. Also, leave the Tupperware lid slightly open and not sealed closed. This allows the sprouts to breathe since they are alive and living. They will keep in the refrigerator from up to seven to ten days. Use in salads, sandwiches and on top of soups.

This process is so simple children can do it and will enjoy watching the new growth everyday.

By incorporating sprouts into your daily meals, you will take your nutrition to the next level and optimize your health.
